Two Youths from United Tani Army Surrender, Join Mainstream.
Today marks a significant and hopeful chapter in the chronicles of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly for the Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP). In a major step towards peace and reconciliation, two misguided youths of the state, formerly associated with the so-called United Tani Army, have surrendered before the authorities and chosen to reject underground activities in favor of joining the mainstream for a better future.
DGP Shri Anand Mohan congratulated the youths for shunning anti-national paths and
choosing to walk towards peace and progress. Further he appealed to other misguided youths to abandon violence and embrace mainstream life.
In a democratic society, there is no space for violence-every voice is heard, and every individual has the right to be heard.
Hon’ble HM Shri Mama Natung who presided over the surrender ceremony stated that the government remains fully committed to rooting out anti-national and anti-social activities. At the same time, we keep the doors open for those who wish to renounce insurgency and rejoin society.
Relief and rehabilitation measures are available for surrendered underground group members, as per the provisions in place. One such initiative is the Relief and Rehabilitation Camp at Bishmak Nagar in Lower Dibang Valley, operational since January 2025.
Currently, the camp houses 30 individuals who have turned away from insurgent activities. The center provides vocational training and orientation programs to enable successful reintegration into society. Upon completing the 36-month rehabilitation program, each individual is eligible for financial assistance of Rs.4 lakhs, in addition to a monthly stipend of Rs.6,000 during the program.
Once again, I warmly welcome the two youths and applaud the unwavering dedication of the State Police in ensuring the safety and security of the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
This is a historic and remarkable day for the Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) and the
State of Arunachal Pradesh. The government of Arunachal Pradesh, under the visionary leadership of our Chief Minister, has consistently worked towards engaging with the youth to secure the future of our state. Groups like the so-called United Tani Army, who are misleading our youth and taking them across borders into Myanmar, are harming our collective future. I strongly urge all such individuals still trapped in these misguided paths to return home, join the mainstream, and contribute to building our state. There are numerous government schemes aimed at helping individuals rebuild their lives. Those who return will be supported through comprehensive relief and rehabilitation programs at our camp. This includes vocational skill training and a monthly stipend to help them become self-reliant. Upon successful completion of the 3-year rehabilitation program, they will receive financial assistance of Rs. 4 lakhs to help them restart their lives with dignity.
He further commended and complimented the two youths who have taken this
courageous step to surrender and rejoin society. I wish them the very best for their future.
